Mackinac Island Trip

This was a nice start to our trip up to northern Michigan. Pretty classy. Daniel said if he would have been sitting in the passenger side he would have lifted his shirt.

This is an awesome shot Daniel got of this couple that was sitting behind us on the ferry over to the island. I'm not sure I need to describe it any further. I love tourists.

Daniel built a mount for his camera so he could get a time lapse riding around Mackinac Island on his bike. He also decided to get a time lapse of the ferry ride back.

After we went to Mackinac Island we drove to the upper peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan where my brother and his family were camping. We took a trip with them to Whitefish Point which is on Lake Superior. This was my first time going to this lake. It is the largest and definitely coldest of the Great Lakes. Whitefish point is called the graveyard of the Great Lakes. 550 Shipwrecks have occurred in a 80 mile stretch from Whitefish Point. Daniel is holding up what he thinks could be a piece of shipwreck.

Angels Landing at Zions National Park

Daniel and I just got back from a trip out to Utah for a family reunion on my moms side. We spent several days right outside Zions National Park. We were able to hike Angels Landing. It is 2.5 miles one way that ascends 1,500 ft.

This is the last half mile of the hike. You hike across the ridge with a 1,200 ft drop off on the left and a 800 ft drop off on the right.

This is one of the steeper parts, luckily they have chains that give you a little comfort.

We made it to the top. That is my brother Grant and his girlfriend Amber, my brother Brian and Daniel and I.

The descent. Going down is always harder for me then going up.

Turtles

This is a sea turtle I caught when we were fishing in the lake. If it doesn't seem right that I actually caught a real sea turtle in a fresh water lake it's because I didn't. It's plastic. I thought it was funny. Daniel and I put him be the edge of the lake and a couple of my family members thought he was real.

This is a real turtle we found. My mom wasn't sure if we were trying to trick her again with a fake turtle until it started to move. It is a blandings turtle and is on the endangered species list as a low threat. I think he is really cute with his little yellow chiny chin.

My recent travels

Daniel and I took a trip to Cedar Point (a big amusement park right on Lake Erie). This is a nice shot of me after riding the Top Thrill Dragster. It goes 120mph in 3 seconds. It knocks the winds out of you.


Later in the day it rained on us which shut down all the rides and caused a lot of people to leave early. We stuck it out and got to enjoy the rides without any long lines.


I got a little worn out after it rained because I was able to ride so many rides without having to wait in line. And I realized that its not always a bad thing to wait in line because it gives your stomach a chance to recover. So we took a cool down lap on the ferris wheel.

We were walking down the sidewalk and saw a bunch of people skateboarding in this plaza area and Daniel spots out one of his favorite pro skateboarders, Stevie Williams.

All in a days work

These were a result of Daniel and I sharing office space the first week working for my dad.

Holland!

Daniel and I are staying at my parents house this summer and working for my Dad. In the fall we are going to Savannah Georgia for Daniel's graduate school at SCAD. It feels nice to finally have some plans figured out. We are both really excited about Savannah. Anyway, we took a little day trip to Holland! (Michigan) The city was celebrating their Tulip Festival. There was thousands of tulips, people dressed in their dutch wear with wooden shoes of course, and clog dancers. My favorite was the windmill. It was exported from the Netherlands and is about 250 years old and is still in working condition.

Graduation!

Daniel and I graduated from Brigham Young University–Idaho April 10th with a Bachelors in Fine Art. It was really fun graduating together. We were able to sit by each other and share a sweetie bag (a bag with lots of different candy in it). About a hour after commencement Daniel got a phone call from SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) saying the he got accepted and they offered him a sizable scholarship. We are still waiting to hear from Art Center in Pasadena, CA. So, we haven't made a decision yet but at least we have a very nice option of going to Savannah for graduate school for Daniel.
